Suspending one’s rational mind through playing and listening to sound allows us to enter a vibrational state of consciousness. When we are no longer bound by our normal routines or what in neuropsychology is called our Default Mode Network (DMN), we are free to create new neural networks leading to new life possibilities and connections. Suspending the DMN to alter consciousness requires clear intention, an understanding of what how to create a safe set and setting, and proper guidance. During this class we will review the research on sound and the Default Mode Network, learn how sound has been used to support psychedelic therapies, and how to use sound to positively alter consciousness using Biosonic tuning forks. The knowledge learned in this class can be applied to crystal bowls, metal bowls, gongs, the voice, and all sound instruments as well as integrated with various therapies.

Class will be presented in two parts. The first part is theory and literature review, and the second part is giving and experiencing sound via tuning forks designed to positively alter consciousness. The learnings in this class can be applied to one’s personal wellness practice and integrated into professional healing practices.
